Hopefully we can put it to good use one day, I remember when .357s & 44s were considered the big dogs. I have a ultradot L/T on the styer, I like it so far. Is this one of the guns you said you needed to break-in on a pig? Anyhow it is certainly a fine piece of machinery.

Yeah -- that's the one that I really NEED to blood. Developed a great load for it, it's really accurate, and I have been practicing a lot with it and the gun and I are both ready! I also have an old .44 that I have owned about 20 years that I've never hunted with that would be a great hog and dog hunting rig.......

You got a Johnson!!! I've always admired those from afar. What a piece of history that is. We must put that to work by George. Man, if you would have been with me a while back with that thing you would have had a ball. Multiple targets milling about and an old man too winded to shoot.

I'll have to bring it!! Multiple targets was exactly how I envisioned using it! It would be perfect! You can really quickly put rounds down range with it!

Larry i couldnt see the photo ,but as you know im a big fan of dogos argentinos dogs ,they have a great hunting instinct,i prefer to cross a dogo with a pointer, its only aids a bit more of pointer as dogos have a lot of english pointers ,i believe with a bull dog it can bit a bit heavy ,but ...if you mantain him in good shape isnt a problem. Are you sure that dogos are very expensive, in Texas there are many breeders ,theres even an association of dogo breeders ,put rankin family dogos in google.Juan

Juan, congratulations on that hog, man I bet everybody involved with that hunt was smiling.

I am contiuing to look, but the hunter class of dogos I've been able to find were from $1200 to $1500. These are dogs that are not suitable for showing etc., but ok for hunting. That's just a bit too much for me right now. We will give this dog a try in a training pen, and if he looks good we will probably take him and hope for the best.

I'll try to post some pictures when we put him in the pen, hopefully you'll be able to see those.

I'll try to repost photo here.

Thanks,
Larry

P.S. I found the Rankin family site, they are not selling or breeding dogos right now. Frowner

Whitworth,
I love your Johnson rifle for a hog gun. I've always wanted to use a Garand for pigs but haven't yet. The Johnson has more "panache" Cool

Thanks 600! It is a lot of fun to shoot. The way it spits brass, you could wound a person (or a hog for that matter!) standing to your right! It would be great for multi-pig encounters!! Hopefully I'll get to blood it one of these days!

Juan, I certainly will advise how this dog works out, I was up there (Arkansas) last week, but didn't get to try the dog out as the current owner was out of town. I do have a hold of him though, so if he works out I will have a dogo. I also found a male puppy in Central Texas for $400, I am exploring.

I did get a chance to make a coupable of hunts though, I will post some pictures when I get the film developed. My wife gave me a digital camera for father's day which will make things less complicated as to posting pictures, hopefully.
