Weekend Texas Hog Hunt
Five of us headed to a ranch near Hondo, Texas last weekend to bust some pigs. We had a great time in spite of some much needed rain moving in late Saturday night.

I took a nice 150lb. sow with my 7mm-08 and a 140 gr. TSX.

This is Bennie with his 200lb. boar.

We also shot 3 rattlesnakes ranging in size for 4 1/2' to 6'.

kweber--

I hunt a ranch east of Cotulla and we had 6.5" on July 4th. Filled all the tanks and this past week when I was down doing camp chores, I poured out 1.1" from the gauge--not sure when it had rained or how much had evaporated. At any rate, the big tank has gone down 2' in the past 6 weeks-so bring on the rains.

Looks like you and your friends had a great time and put some good hogs on the ground to boot.

I am looking rorward to doing the same thing in a few weeks.

Take care,

Mike / Tx

Nice going, Bob!

The hogs are moving through here again. I took two nice ones Tuesday evening. You might even approve of the caliber I used on 'em -- a 7mm-08!

Forgot to ask: What's the story with the ears on Bennie's hog? The one nearest the camera looks very small, and the other is not visible at all.

Hey Bobby,

That is just the way it shows in the photo. I wasn't with Bennie when they shot the boar. We had to go back at last light to take the photo. He was a big knarly son of a gun!!

I popped another sow yesterday with my 7mm-08 while guiding one of my free-range blackbuck hunts over in Camp Wood.

If they are moving in on you again, I know you will be thinning them out quickly!!
