Where: Texas
When: 01-24-09
Gun: Browning A-bolt Medallion in .300 Win Mag
Ammo: Factory Winchester 180gr XP3's

Was able to get a High Rack for my pickup truck Friday the 16th and decided to head out to one of the ranches we have permission to hog hunt on.

The property consists of 3 waterholes, and no feeders...with sand dunes. (we are working on trying to get a feeder going out there because success will be much greater).

That Saturday we found lots of pig skulls and etc while walking around but hadnt seen a single hog. So I parked the truck about 100 yards from the water we expected them to come in to and waited. Near sundown a 35-40lb Javelina comes walking through the Sendero I parked on approx. 40 yards from my pickup and heads into the water. After a quick drink he was off through the brush, and at 160 yards through 3 fences we were able to Texas Heart Shot him.

This was my buddies first Javelina and I think he was more excited with it then any deer he took this past season.

Way to go guys. Doesn't look like the xp3's tore him up too bad. What is your bud going to do with him.

The XP3 didn't do much Damage at all. These bullets are a lot tougher then the Ballistic Tips we usually use. Even so, the Javelina dropped on the spot.

I'm not sure what he's going to do with him! If I get a decent looking one or a good tusked Feral on the ground this weekend or in the near future I am definately doing a Shoulder Mount.

Here's mine. I don't see many where I hunt so I was jazzed.

European mounts look good also. Good luck on getting the one you want. Post pix when you do

Bugle, one more thought, thats a fine looking rig you've got for your truck. I bet that really comes in handy for spotlighting or nite varmint hunting. Good luck this weekend, hope you get a good one,.... or two .....or more.

Thanks! It is wonderful. Swivels 360 degrees, shooting rests, seats swivel as well. I'm gonna weld a bracket for a small car battery to put in the center for a spotlight, and possibly mount a bracket for the Foxpro FX3 caller and 2 cupholders Big Grin

It's really comfy up there. The most comfy I've been in some time while hunting dancing
