True or False?
I had someone tell me today that if you helicopter hog hunt in Texas, you are not allowed by law to recover any of the meat. I couldn't find an answer on the internet. Does anyone know whether that is true or false?

What I did find, on the Texas Parks & Wildlife website, is that you cannot "sport hunt" out of an aircraft. Maybe that precludes you from harvesting any of the meat.

I am fairly certain that I have seen recovery being done on TV.

You can recover hogs, no matter the method of take.

Shooting feral pigs is not "sport hunting". The law allows the use of aircraft to kill them. Sure you can recover the meat. Most people do not. Where they stay, what you shot them in, and communication with a ground crew. Renting a copter is expensive enough, having someone on the ground is prohibitive!

Here is the verbatim response from Texas Parks & Wildlife.

RE: Web Question/Comments C000322-103122

"TPWD regulations do not restrict the retrieval of hog meat shot from a helicopter. However, FAA regulations need to be followed by the pilot for legal landing during an aerial gunning operation.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please respond to this email.

Have a nice day,
