Went back out yesterday afternoon to watch the waterhole hoping for a good feral to show up, and had 12 of these Potato Chip Vaccumms come in. They were snacking on some Chili Cheese Fritos at about 80 yards when the Browning Abolt Stainless Stalker in .338 Win Mag barked. 250gr Partition Later...

So I got my limit of Javelina this 2008-2009 Season! A first for me, and I had not taken a Javelina in over 6 years I believe...so that was exciting.

I promise next time I'll have the video camera with me Big Grin

That was a quick bag limit! The smaller one looks pre-processed by the rifle round. Congratulations.

2 for 1 special, lil Javvi was behind the big one, penetration wasn't a problem.

I wish the smaller one was another large one, as there were a few big ones in the group that may of made a good mount

Sometimes the twofers make for a good story and there will be plenty of other chances to mount I bet.

Take care.

What a quick way to reach your limit!

Nice going! thumb

Hopefully the wild hogs will show up for you in the near future as well. Here, they've gone pretty much nocturnal, and my trigger finger is getting mighty itchy... Big Grin

Thanks !

We are still working on getting permission to put a deer feeder out there. I think success will triple with one going. We have found a few Feral hog skulls out there, and the teeth in them are surreal as well as the size of the head.

Jaw 1

4.5" outside of jawbone

Tooth 1 (I pulled this one from the jawbone)

5.5" outside of jawbone

Rancher said 300+lb is common, as the surrounding ranches are owned by him as well and none are hunted besides what I am doing out there. The rancher shoots hogs on sight but I don't think he is out there much.

.338 seems a bit rough on those little guys eh? Wink No such thing as too much gun!

I'm headed out tomorrow to chase them around with a bow for a few days. Hopefully I'll have as much success as you seem to be enjoying. Maybe reading your post will rub some good luck off on me. Big Grin

hehe Thanks again,

Geedubya - if all goes to plan, each and every weekend from now on in 2009 I should be posting up a hog kill report. My buddy is gonna bring his bow this weekend and I may grab the camcorder and the .450 Marlin

Bugle,

Oh to be young, good lookin', have a flat stomach, a full head of hair and to be able to hunt every weekend! Wow, some guys have all the fun. Make the most of it and enjoy every opportunity to be out in the field.

I hope to go to my lease this weekend as well. I set up 3 game cameras two weeks ago. Can't wait to see what "develops". May even get a chance to get in couple of hog/varmint hunts.
Keep those pix comin'

hahaha Thanks for the chuckle Geedubya. I got rid of the girlfriend as I think she was cuttin into my huntin time. Big Grin I'll grab another but I want the next to enjoy the outdoors as much as I do.

Good luck on your lease and bring a rifle down there, you may get lucky! If im ever around Pearland or if you're ever in the Monohans/Crane/Midland/Odessa/Stanton/Big Spring area we may have to meet up and knock some critters on the ground.

Bugle,

my daughter graduated from Tech in Lubbock. She and her husband are living in Amarillo. Maybe we can hook up when I come up that way some time. I'll pm you next week when I get back. As to taking rifles. No problem. I think I'm gonna take my 17 ackley hornet, the 308 encore I bought from Bobby, and my 9.3 x 62 cz. That plus a couple of more that I have not yet decided on.
