Im using the .577 as its a recent purchase. Its also a lot of fun. Heres the details of the .577 put together by the previous owner. Also a few more boar pics.Cheers Mick

W.W.Greener Double Barrel Express Rifle chambered for the .577 x 2 3/4 Light Nitro cartridge. This rifle was built on a 1928 Greener "Empire" 12-bore shotgun action by Melbourne gunsmith Rolph Bachnick, in the first year of the new millenium I believe. I have owned it since October 2003. Overall weight is 10 1/2 lbs and the balance point is 2 1/4 inches ahead of the hinge-pin, still well behind the forward hand. Barrels are 22 inches with British express sights including a faceted diamond front bead! Barrel engraving reads ".577 - 2 3/4 Case" and "65 Grain Cordite / 650 Grain Bullet". Rib is engine-turned with maker's name in a banner: "W.W.Greener Maker 40 Pall Mall London S.W. Works St Mary's Square Birmingham."
The action remains tight on the face and bores remain in excellent condition, appearing virtually as new. External rust-blueing of the barrels is very fine and still appearing virtually new. The non-automatic Greener side-safety is modified with a clever raised rib for positive non-slip operation. Stock finish shows a few minor dents and scratches commensurate with field carry, and some thinning of the oil finish at the front of the comb, however the stock still looks great and I never considered a refinish to be necessary. View the expanded photos for details and condition.

Hey Mick:
Welcome to the A/R hog board.
Great pics, just a question now.
How do you get those dead hogs to smile like that??? Only a couple aren't.

Fine rifle, beautiful setup.
Shall be looking for more of your posts.
How much hog hunting do you do? Year around?George

I agree, it sure looks like Mick has it figured out on hogs.
Man what ivory they've all got.
Thanks for sharing Mick.
Where you at over there from where we might know related to somewhere else? had been 'em pals with Sambar02 for over ten yrs til he had that fatal H/A a couple yrs ago. He was around Wangaratta and invited me over for a long time. I never could get it together enough to go then my health took a dive then next thing I knew he up n died. Same age within a few months too.

Wish you well,
George

Mick,

Very nice boars you got there! My Dad and cousin with some friends went there to do some hunting. Hopefully one day I'll make it over there.

Do you hunt with dogs at all? or just rifle and bow?

Happy Hunting,

Dom

I have hunted and killed hogs all my life, but have nowhere near that collection of tushes.

Outstanding.

Welcome aboard.

Hope to see more.
