Pretty sure after today's range session that my CZ550 .375H&H topped with a Leupold 1.25-4x Euro-30mm scope is going to get the nod when I head down to NC for hog this fall. The group below was shot this morning with 300gr PPU (read:cheap!) FMJ's at 50 yds. The two touching shots to the right of my thumb (~1" above the bull ring) was from a sandbag off the bench. The remainder were a mix of off hand standing and rested against the side of a support column for the covered firing line. I'll probably try and get out again tomorrow and try her out at 100yds. Now to just settle in on some ammo. I've ordered some different loads from Double Tap, waiting for them to arrive. I've ordered their 235gr and 270gr TSX loads. I also have a box of Remington green box 270gr SP's. Might also give Hornady Superformance 270gr SP's a whirl. Still really need to get some powder and primers and dies for my reloading press and get reloading for this round!

Looks like minute of hog to me! Nice work! Keep us posted when you get your DT ammo. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"

The Hornady 270's work well in my CZ 375. Work up to 73 grains of Reloader 15. Mine is set up similar to yours with a 1.75X6 Leupold. Never killed a hog with it but did kill a couple of deer. I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf.... DRSS

I'm debating upgrading to a higher power scope. The German #4 on my 1.25-4x is quite thick and open up my groups a good bit at 100yds. I've my eyes peeled for a decent priced 2.5-8x or 3-9x Leupy with duplex to replace it with. I know I've a spare set of factory CZ rings upstairs somewhere, just have to dig them out and figure out if they're 1" or 30mm.

I wouldn't worry about the thickness of your reticle. While it happens, it is a relatively rare hog that is shot much over a 100 yards. Personally, I'd consider the Hornady 225 gr interlocks loaded at medium speeds. Hogs aren't buffalo and don't need the same type of bullets/loads. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere. NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR. Just spoke with the outfitter again today and he said the majority of shot presentations are within 50 yards and a long shot is 75. Double Tap 235 TSX's shot nicely, as did the 270's. I've noted the verticle climb at 50yds goes up quite dramatically between 300gr and 270gr loads. The 270's were hitting a good 4" higher than the 300's. Is this typical? Before a few weeks ago I'd never shot anything lighter than 300's out of a .375. Gatorado, anyone load for the 225 Hornady's? I ordered a box of the superformance 270gr interlocks today, going to see how those perform.

That'll work! I have used my .375 H&H on piggies in Texas. Didn't bother to build special load for it ... just used the same stuff I loaded for Africa: 300 gr TSXs at 2604 fps. That load simply flattens piggies. The 9,3x62 with 286 gr NPs at 2400 fps is equally effective ... haven't seen anything but DRTs with either at abt 100 yards. Scope at 50 to 75 yards is not critical at all. Just so it gathers enough light at dawn and dusk. Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... I've used everything from 22 LR to 375 H&H on hogs. I have to say my favorite two selections are 223 and 375 H&H w/260 grains Accubonds. The lack of muzzle jump in a properly weighted 375, coupled with a low power scope, keep you on target for multiple kills with a bolt action. That's part of the reason I love my .375H&H. The recoil is extremely managable and the rifle simply a joy to shoot, even from the bench. Factory weight is listed at 9.5lbs for the CZ550, as well as the weight of the Leupold Euro-30 scope. I'll have to throw it on the scale tomorrow when I get home from work and see exactly what it weighs.

My pig killer will either be my 338 Federale with 200 Hot Cors or my 9.3x62 with 285 Lapua Megas. Heck, I'll probably use both.
