I got this upper primarily for general defense and hog hunting. Caliber is 6.8 SPC and will probably use 120 SST as the primary bullet choice. It will run about 2450-2475 fps out of the 16 inch barrel.

Very nice! Looking forward to the results! "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"

Nice. Next best thing in the AR15; the 6.8 compared to the 6.5 Grendel. KB ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

I was actually going to PM you GW to ask if you used one. I know you have a myriad of calibers and rifles. Thanks for sharing. KB, I've been waiting for your Grendel post. I actually looked at the Grendel hard but I'm only going to shoot to 300 yards max and both rounds are pretty much the same to that distance. Those 123 SSTs should hammer hogs out of your Grenedel. One guy on the 6.8 forums uses 120 SST in 6.8 spc with a thermal scope. He's shot a few hundred hogs with 6.8 and swears by the 120 SST. He says about 85% one shot stops and he hits them in the shoulders, not the head.

What load was he using? If he is like his father, I'm sure it was an Accubond.

I think it would be difficult if not impossible to tell the difference on game at 300 yds or less, comparing the 6.8 Grendel with the 6.5 SPC. I was just messing with you. If I didn't already have several uppers in Grendel, I would get a 6.8, but it's redundant for me, IMO. The 123 gr SST are very impressive and very accurate in the factory ammo, which is all that I've used so far. I have five boxes of Barnes 100gr TTSX bullets, but I've been so busy that I haven't set up my reloading room yet. I feel the exact same way. I sometimes get on the 6.8 forums but it gets to be too much cartridge worship. To me, they are virtually identical out to 300 yards. I actually argue for the Grendel whenever anyone brings it up. I went with 6.8 because I have a min 14 in 6.8 so I already had dies, brass, etc… I did get out to the range this morning and it's accurate out to 50 yards. It was so windy, I didn't even try 100 yards. It appears the limiting factor will be me. I'm using 5x scope with 2 MOA dot in the reticle. Set up works great for intended purposes. I'm not trying to make it a bench rest rifle. The group on the left is factory 115 Fusions with factory 120 SSTs on the right. I call it good enough for self defense and hunting. I may not need to reload after all.

Good groups/shooting. Now, you just need one of the 4 legged obama supporters to step out infront of you. Good luck !
