There is a big black boar near Jolon CA that lives a charmed life. This is the first time I saw him on private land near Fort Hunter Liggett CA. I have only had glimpses of this hog over the past few years. Other hunters have also just caught glimpses of him.

Westy missed him at 50 yards with a shotgun.

The Ghost Pig hung out with what we think was his brother. One lucky guy shot the brother and he weighed 299 on the scale whole. Dude shot one tusk off with a 30.06 and never found it.

We're trying WW. The fort has been closed down pretty good with all the training going on.

The last time I saw the ghost pig I glassed up a hog snout sticking up above the weeds in a big field. He was moving to a bedding area and checking the wind as he walked. I knew where he would cross the road so I got set up to take a pic since the fort was closed that day.

I waited and waited and it was a pretty open flat where they cross and kind of hard to miss a big old black 300 lb pig in broad daylight. As I scanned the fields I caught movement out of the corner of my eye and there stood the ghost in the middle of the road looking at me. I reached for the camera and he was gone. Dude took up almost the whole road standing broadside.

How he got across the flat there that had ankle high grass is beyond me. Where he went was also a mystery.

Going to try and avenge myself come the fall
