Just got off the phone with my friend and ranch manager of the place we hunt in South Texas. Hot, dry and windy is the standard weather this time of year in Dilley, Texas. Have my next trip planned for August 7-9, but may take a freind and our wifes July 17-19 just to get out of Houston. Want to try some night hunting and see if a couple of lights we have can eluminate the feeders. Need that fix now I tell you.

I'm with you Harold. I usually only get to go hog hunting once a year. By the time it comes around, I'm really ready!

Good luck in August.

Harold-

I sure hope you get to go later this month. There's no better way to shorten the time betwen hunting seasons and to cure an itchy triger finger than by popping a hog or two... Big Grin

Harold,

Hoping to get to Dilley in early September. (Almost out of sausage and need to fill the freezer Wink ) Please let me know how the conditions are there and how the dryness has impacted the piggy population.

Have a great hunt!

Hope to post a report in a couple of weeks. They just got a little rain today, every little bit helps. This place feeds corn and protein year round and will draw wildlife in from the suroounding properties. It is really dry. Some areas got a good rain about 6/8 weeks ago but if you didn't get that you are really hurting. Non irrigated fields are dried up and lost for the year, tanks/ponds are low or dried up.

I used to live in Florida and I have a friend there with a big hunting lease. I used to scratch my hog hunting itch on a regular basis. I still try to go a couple of times a year, but it's not nearly enough.......
