In this post ill try to explain ,the different species that the hunter would find in my country.I will divide them in tayasuidae and suidae .
TAYASUIDAE 3species CHACO PECCARY
COLLARED PECCARY
LIPPED PECCARY
The Chaco peccary was found in 1972 by Ralph Wetzel ,i was believe that it was in extintion since 15000 years ago its the bigger of all and can weigh from 45 to 80 kilos.
The collared peccary weigths 40 to 50 kilos and has a collar of white hair in his neck.
The lipped peccary is bigger than the collared peccary and their groups are really big in some areas up to 300 ,they prefer the jungle and bush of the north of my country .
SUIDAE
SUS SCROFA or russian wild boar ,it was introduced by Pedro Luro in 1904 in La Pampa ,then in 1922 some were released in Neuquen ,Collunco.Today you can find them in most of our country ,in some places crossed with domestic hogs and in some places totally pure.
Feral Hogs the hunter can find big populations of freal hogs in most of the big swamps ,in the jungles of the north ,in the bush ,and even in the Parana river marshes most of them has a domestic appearence ,but they are brave and huge,in some jungles of Salta they are red and small and in some lagoons are really giants of 300kilos or more .
CIMARRON HOG OF SANMBOROMBON
Several authors name this hog separately because has a different origin ,and they are huge totally black and has a different origin ,some people said that hog that lives in the marshes of Rio de la Plata and the atlantic ocean ,descend from the hogs released by the first spanish pioneers ,then during WW1 the germans released all the hogs of a english butchering house ,they went there crossed with the other pigs and adapted to an acuatic life and to eat fish and crabs they live in a huge area with not human pouplation ,they are huge and killed many many dogs of my friends.
