Four wheeler broke down last week, leaving me up the creek without a paddle. So I set out on foot across the highway to look around a bit. While I was limited to as far as my old legs would take me, my girls found this pretty nice little boar.

Thanks DesertRam the dogs did most of the work. I'll tell them you said "nice going".

Took another walk about today and got this little sow after my Catahoula flushed her out. My neighbor let me borrow his wheeler for half, so I was able to get her out.

Food for the smoker!!

Looks like you did a good job, and the dogs probably would not have been happy with you after all the work they did. beer tu2

You right about that, the Catahoula thinks she is human and doesn't hesitate to let me know if she thinks I fouled it up. Big Grin

Babette will generally say "maudit fie d' Gasse". The others will just give me dirty looks.

Thanks Juan, I'm very proud of the girls they are doing really well. Glad that y'all are having a good duck season. Mine was terrible.

I'm sure you recognize the rifle as an Argentine Model 1891. My Brother gave it to me after someone had cut the barrel and stock. I simply attached the scope mounts to the rear sight, and tacked them there so they wouldn't move under recoil. The result was perfect.

Love the rifles and the dogs of Argentina. Thanks again for your kind remarks. God Bless!

Seems a shame that the 7.65 Mauser round seems to have fallen by the wayside. Darn near a twin to the .308 Winchester. Is Norma still the only factory round available? It was when I got my first rifle (M91 Argy) back in the early 70's. CB

When I don't reload my 7.65 I get mine from Graft & Son's by PRIV they are 180 gr. and as accurate as my 150 gr. reloads. Run about $17.00 a box, I recommend them for 7.65 feed.

The walking continues. Wheeler still in shop. Got an estimate for the repair, didn't know the shop charged Mercedes Benz shop prices, ouch.

Anyhow crossed the highway and just got into the woods and I saw a hog running along a deep creek about 150-175 yds away on the wrong side of the creek. Dogs never saw it. I huffed along forever until I could find a place to cross, and tried to pick up its trail with no success.

Made a long sweep through the woods, just striking out away from the main trails. Saw quite a bit of sign, until I heard the dogs baying and then a hog squealing. Got there as quickly as I could. Found the dogs attached to a nice little sow about 80lbs or so. Moved in and stuck her with a bayonet I had brought along. Too bad I couldn't get her out, doubt that I could have found her again really after getting out. Oh well, critters have to eat too.

I'm having a great time walking actually, but need the wheeler to get stuff out. I really hated to leave this little sow behind.

I have made a couple scout rifles out of bubba sporters they make a nice rig.

A 03 with 18 inch and 220grs at 2250 is one good hog rifle.

My brother inherited a pile of surplus rifles in different stages of being altered for sporting purposes. Don't know if the guy bought them that way or if he did the "work". My brother gave me several and they make handy rifles I don't have to baby in the field.

Yes your rifle would be perfect for hogs.
