Was doing maintenance on the property I am responsible for today. While driving back to barn A group of hogs were out where I had bush hogged earlier. I took the long way back so I wouldn't spook them. Grabbed .270 out of truck at the barn. There were 3 large hogs and 6 little ones. Picked the largest (200yrds). 1st shot took out his hind quarters. 2nd spun him around an he was down crawling towards cover. 3rd shot I short stroked & he made it to the cover before I could clear and fire. So he has 2 solid hits with 2 140gr Hornady SST's. I grabbed my 44mag jumped on tractor and went to where I saw him go in. When I got there, he was thrashing & trying to pull himself about 20 feet away in extremely thick cover. Put (3) 44 mag rds into him. (2) 300 gr cast cores (1) 240 gr Georgia Arms "Deer stopper". He then disappeared. I couldn't see him any more. Jumped on tractor & went to the other side of cover. He hadn't came out that side. Went back to where I last saw him. On the way I reloaded 44mag 6 rds. When I got back I crawled in to where I last saw him . I heard something to my left. He had moved about 30 feet. I put 3 more rds. of 44mag into him "240gr GA deer Stoppers. I lost sight of him again. The sun was going down, I was by myself on 360 acres. So I left him for the coyotes tonight. No way was I going after him in the dark. This hog took 8 bullets all which should have put him down for good. In 40 years of hunting I have never shot an animal this many times. All have been 1 shot kills. Hog was 400lbs +. I am going back tomorrow morning an look for him. I sure wanted a pic. Hopefully I'll be able to post pics. Cats have nine lives. I had one considerably smaller soak up a boatload of lead once as well. They can soak it up on occasion! Looking forward to the photos! "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." Proves the old adage that if you do something long enough/often enough, there will be an occasion where what has became the accepted norm, gets tossed out the window, and from my personal experience it is usually in a big way when it happens. Look forward to seeing the pictures. Even the rocks don't last forever.

Yep -- do something long enough and all kinds of things happen! Case in point! "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"

Found hog. He went about another 10 yards from where I last shot him. I was able to find 7 entry wounds. But could not turn him over for exit. Tried to take pics but camera would not work He was one of the 4 boars that had been hanging out together around 4 sows & little ones. There is now 1 left. I dispatched the other 2 awhile back. So far I have done away with 6 hogs (2 in freezer) with .270 using the 140 gr SST's. This is the first one that just would not stop. All other were 1 shot kills & dropped in their tracks. I left him lying. Plan to hunt over him for other hogs & coyotes. Cats have nine lives. Which makes them ideal for experimentation...

Not armored, but sometimes they need more convincing than other times. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"

Went and checked out the carcass this afternoon. Nothing left but some hair, no bones or even splinters. Pretty amazing for 5 days later. Cats have nine lives. Which makes them ideal for experimentation...
