Anyone with any experience/suggestions for north Georgia hog hunting? I have the opportunity to head down to Atlanta and over to Fort Benning. I was thinking about doing some hog hunting while I'm in the area. Thoughts, suggesttions? This would be my first hog hunt.

Hey.... Its hot and not necessarily "in season" for hogs in GA right now. Benning [Columbus] is NOT North Ga [its pretty much South]. Columbus is 100 miles south of Atlanta. Do you know these people doing the invite?

This wouldn't be my choice of season to hunt in S. Georgia. If you do, get yourself some good snake boots. All my Georgia hog-hunting experience has been in the Okeefenokee Swamp in S.E. Georgia. We used a few chase hounds to find/track. when they had a pig "bayed-up", we toss in a pit bull or two to "catch"...then the "hunter"...runs in and grabs the pig by the hind legs. Throw the pig onto it's side, tie the hind feet together...and you got your pig. (Note: Don't get too close to the front end of your pig...) I've done it with pigs up to 200 lbs. LOTS more exciting than sniping one from a stand.

Let me clear things up a bit more. I can make the trip any time of the year. I'll visit a friend in Atlanta then would like to head out on my own and check it out. I have access to Benning and thought it might be a good choice of locations since all i read says they have a problem with them there. Sorry for the confusion.
