I've read alot about best caliber for hog hunts. I'm curious about the distances most have you have taken your hogs and what scopes (brand & power) you all like. I have a Browning BAR in .308 and a Marlin .45-70, that I would like to use on an upcoming hog hunt. I'm thinking of leaving the Marlin unscoped (since it's basically a 150 yd. round). Any opinions out there??? Thanks

I use a 6.5x55 and a open sighted 8x57. I leave the scope on 3x on the 6.5 as the longest shot on a pig I've taken would be about 120 meters. Closest would be 3 meters.

My average shot on a pig has been about 90yds, with .308, and 8x57, both with 3x9's set at 3x.
