Haven't posted in a while, ithas been so hot and dry here I haven't wanted to hunt. Besides I have been working on my junk. Finally got everything running again and took this young man from N Carolina out last week to a corn field and caught this nice sow. We got out run on the first one. The curs had him caught and by the time I got close enough to send in bones for support, he broke just as bones hit the corn. He hightailed it out the other end of the corn field and out of hearing with the wind blowing. I picked the dogs up on the box and it sounded like they were across into a brush pasture that it would have taken me an hour to get to them so I started looking for bones. He finally came out of the corn so we put him up and then the curs were coming back. We caught the dogs and loaded them and made another pass around the field. After about 3/4 of the way around the curs erupted in the box. I let them out and they immediately caught this sow. I sent bones in anyway for insurance and this is what they had.

Got a call last, Thursday to go down to south Duval county east of Conception, Texas and take a group of Aggies on a hunt. When I left here the thermometer on my front porch was 103 deg. with a 30 to 40 mph SE wind. For you Texas guys Duval county isthe place where George Parr was "The Duke Of Duval" I was surprised when I got there because it was green. A couple of weeks ago they had 3 inches of rain.It was the Owners son's 20 birthday and he had invited about 15 of his friends down for a hog hunt. Talk about pressure, the dogs had to preform. With the wind still blowing and the temp around 89 we started hunting. The first pig out ran us.Not ever being on this place I had to depend on the son to tell me where to go. The next pig was a small pig and the dogs dispatched him before I could get to him.For the next 4 hours we drove walked dogs and never got a bark. Finally about 4 AM the temp started to drop and the pigs came out of their hole and started to move around. We stopped just short of a windmill that had an over flow around it and walked the curs up to it.They left immediately and it wasn't long before we had a bay. I guess the curs thought it was taking too long for the catch dogs to get there so they caught him fust as the catch dogs arrived. After catching this one everyone was ready to go to sleep.I think the BUD was getting to them.We arrived back at the house just as the Sun was coming up.

Glad the dogs did okay in the heat. Looks to be a long summer.
