Went for a pig-sit at my "automatic" spot tonight to give the bow stand a rest--about 15 minutes after I got there, I glanced up and "there it was", a triangular black shape in the trail coming from the creek bottom. Glasses up, and it was a false alarm--just the base of a mesquite "framed" by a fallen limb. About 90 minutes later, I had eaten my snacks, drank my water, read most of my book, and still no pigs. Then the doe parade began. 13 does later, they had all trooped past, and a few stopped at the feeder for an evening snack.

Oh well, back to the bow stand in the AM. Have seen deer each sit, but the only one that has offered a shot is a smaller 8-pt that I have passed on 4 times because the first visit he had his 18 inch-wide daddy with him that didn't offer a shot. However, I have 2 weeks of bow season left and then 2+ months of firearm season, then 2 weeks of ML season, so I'll fill the freezer one way or another.

but I bet ya' had a good ol' time just sittin' there in the gloaming, probably calming down from the day, a cool breeze blowing in your face, reflecting on days and hunt gone by, and thinking about the opportunities that future hunts present. I be you savored your snack and how good a drink of cool water can taste, and thought how lucky you were to be there rather than in the mall or stuck on a freeway somewhere in traffic. Thought about your wife and kids, and or grandkids and thanked God for the opportunities to hunt another day. Oh well, that's what I would have been thinking should I have been fortunate enough to have been in your shoes tonite.
I'll be there this weekend though.

I was back in the bow stand this AM--two bucks, one legal and one too young. I passed on the larger of the two again--the 4th time I've passed on him. I think he's suicidal. Big Grin
