Now is when a lot of deer feeders run out of corn and the pigs hit the available ones! Sat at my friend's place last night. Feeder goes off at 8, 8:05 a pig came in! Only problem were a couple deer between me and it! They got their act together and opened a window. I did hurry the shot. I waited a few minutes and went to look. No sign of a hit. I looked around a little and nothing. It was early so I decided go back and sit some more. I received a remote control for the feeder and used it. A nervous buck showed. Around, in and out, jump and run. Saw a second bump, a possum was dinking around the battery box. Buck jumped the fence and left. The possum ran fast across the lights (well as fast as a possum runs)! I saw a dark flash on the back right of the feeder. Maybe the pig is back? A long wait but nothing. Fixing to leave when a dark form showed on the left side of the feeder. Pig! Jumpy pig, it would only get so close but stayed out side the lights. Second approach I turned on the led in the scope. Fire cleared, no pig. Going to be one of those nights. Went and looked where it was standing no blood. Looked in the pen where it was heading and hosed blood trail! Its still amazing how far a pig can run with a broken front leg, pumping blood every heart beat. Stranger yet a 116.1 pound lone sow,375 Ruger. I looked around for the first but found nothing close.

Well done. Are you going back today to check for buzzards for that first one? I doubt you missed. How they bleed -- or don't -- is amazing, too. The one I shot the other night had no exit and only went about 24 yards, but there was plenty of blood from the small entry. Then again, I've seen hogs leave no blood trail with gaping exits. If a pig is down I have faith in the buzzards. I had one circling low last summer over my house in town. The thre were three??? I finally found a dead squirrel in the south fence line. This is in town! Buzzards knew ther was that small piece if meat was there. The next day it wasn't there The buzzards or a possum got the squirrel. Couldn't tell we were down by one. They were all over the place and eating all the seedling green bean plants when they got tall enough to have the green bean half still feeding the plants. They killed all my beans. Then later in the growing season they ate all my sunflowers like the coons do my sweet corn. I see a squirrel war coming. But the buzzards proved infallible. I will feed them lots of squirrels the upcoming growing season. Be Well, Packy.
