dustofferLook What Showed Up
Been hunting this place and another a mile west for more than 10 years and this is only the 2nd time I've had a javelina show up--not gonna shoot it, just watch it.

dustofferBobby--I'm wondering what he saw/heard/smelled that has his coat all raised? Definitely not happy about something.

I was wondering about that also. Something definitely has its attention. It's often hard to tell with javelina, though. Their eyesight is poor, and sometimes they'll go on high alert for a limb swaying in the breeze or a moving shadow.

I've been on many hunts in South Texas and have never seen deer shy away from javelinas at feeders. Deer generally pay no attention to them at all, other than rarely contesting them for prickly pear, the javelina's favorite meal. As to pigs, well, nothing other than a gunshot will run them away from feeders, but they always predominate over deer, which will yield a feeder to a hog in a New York minute.
