Recently 4 of us went on a hog hunt in SW Texas at the Venado Grande Ranch. We had been to the same ranch the 2 previous years and knew what to expect.

Dave (dave7mm for this forum) was using his 270 and 113gr EXP Groove Bullets. Steve, our Free Hog Hunt Contest winner, was using his 25-06 and 101gr EXP Groove Bullets. The other Steve (a friend of mine from Ohio) was using his 300 win mag and factory ammo. I was using a 7mm mag and 127gr EXP Groove Bullets.

On the first night I fired 3 shots and had 5 dead animals on the ground. I hade 2 hogs lined up, twice. At the shot the bullet went clean through both hogs, both times. Later in the evening I killed a coyote.

I don't recall how many hogs were shot by the other hunters the first night but I do remember Dave (dave7mm) killing 7 hogs the second night. He had 1 double as well.

In total this was the kill rate: Steve (free Hog Hunt Winner) 4 hogs, Steve (friend from Ohio) 6 hogs, Myself 7 hogs and Dave (dave7mm from this forum) 11 hogs.
