Guys, I seem to have this pig thing pretty bad.

I live in Ireland where we don't have any wild boar or feral pigs. I went to the Czech Rep last year for four days and managed to shoot one boar. I am going back there for 4 days in two weeks time for driven boar shooting. This is all very well, but the best you can hope for is to shoot one or two boar over three days.

I want to book a trip some where that pigs are thick on the ground. I would like to be able to shoot two or three pigs a day for a week.

Where would the best be place be for a trip of this type?

I was thinking Texas, I have family there so I could make a 2 or 3 week trip out of it?

What wouls something like that cost over in the US?

Thanks

Do a Google search of .... pig hunting texas ...and boar hunting texas and you will have plenty of web-sites pop up.

Mostly at night sitting and watching a feeder.

There's a place here in Texas called Diamond G Farm & Ranch. This is the exact quote out of Boar Hunter Magazine:

"Wild Hog Hunt. Rifle, Pistol, Muzzleloader, and Bow. South Texas all night wild hog hunts. NO LIMIT ON HOGS! Currently, over 180 hogs per night coming to 7 feeders that are set to go off 5 times nightly. Feeders have light; blinds have spotlight & worklights, bunk beds, pressurized water for cleaning hogs, hanging pole, Bar-B-Q pit & mesquite wood. 2 Hunters - 2 Nights $250 ea. Additional Nights $125 ea. Video tape available. Call Glen H Gembler for more info. Phone (830) 569-5467 Office & Home. 990 CR 419, McCoy, TX 78113."

I have never been to this place, so I don't know if it is any good. But, it is one of the more reasonably priced places. Hope this helps.

Hmmm, interesting.

Wonder where McCoy Texas might be. Not on the list of towns in my recent Atlas.

Brian:

You want to shoot lots of pigs. There's only one place in the world you can get your fill of that. Australia.

Contact me on pm, or hotmail and I'll give you a e/m of a buddy over there that might get you on track.
But, I'd recommend you check the AU site on here first. Should be lot's of contacts there.

Wish you well with it, something I've always wanted to do myself.

It would be nice if you could come to Texas for the Dallas Safari Show Jan 12-14, then do the DRSS hunt/shoot Jan 15-17, and then a couple of other hunts.

I think you would enjoy the DSC and the DRSS people.

Mapquest is your friend.

Not surprisingly there is more than one McCoy, Texas, but it is likely the one just outside Pleasanton.

Not endorsing anyone here, I have not hunted with them.

We used to see quite a few hogs during deer season in South Texas.

Northern Australia for sure. They are not the typical European Boar but they are certainly wild and can get some pretty mean tusks.
You will possibly see hundreds of pigs and take many pigs in a day. The weather is tropical and the scenery and other wildlife is great.
Check out Hunt Australia run by Matt Graham.

Two places where you can be sure of many hogs.
Australia Matt Graham is a good start
Argentina www.huntinginargentina.com

I have hunted feral hogs in both locations and would definitely return. Argentina was the best, but then I have not hunted with Graham - yet! If you write to Argentina address to Juan Pozzi or Alberto Foerster and tell them billinthewild sent you; same with Graham. thumb
I have hunted Texas, and quantity is "iffy," to say the least.
