Last night the wife and I had fried deer loin, tonight we had wild pig BBQed Ribs.

I just do not see how people can let wild pig meat lay, and not harvest it.

I agree...kinda....

I have wonderful boar meat in the freezer now that came from a 251 pounder. No smell, slightly redder than store bland meat, BUT

I once tried to remove hogs from a mtn ranch....33 hogs later they were still filtering in from BLM lands adjacent...freezers full, friends full, shelters not allowed to take meat unless USDA certified anymore...we left some lay for Fish and Game to come get under the depredation permit we had.

Mostly the massive boars that fought off the dogs after we took the spot and stalk hogs, the hound driven hogs, then we hit the brush with Airdales.

State of Tennessee uses "professional hunters" and all the hogs they kill in designated areas of east Tn are left on the ground. Supposedly the black bear population is increasing accordingly with the abundance of meat.

Had deep fried venison tenderloin strips last night also, along with corn on the cob and Steamed vegetables. YUM

Got portions of three hogs in one freezer.

Got this nice "eatin size" I shot last weekend in the cooler "wet aging". I will put it up in the AM.

Link sausage, sausage patties (used in egg taquitos, marinara sauce for spaghetti, added to bean soup, and chili) pulled pork, pork loin, and barbeque ribs. Hardly a week goes by that we don't have table fare that includes pork from hogs that I shoot.

With one exception, every female I have shot either had pigletss in her or with her, and in most cases both. I did kill one barrow about ten years ago that weighed 240. Probably the best eating feral hog I have ever shot, and I have killed a bunch. Not as many as a lot of you, but several truck loads of them, anyway...
