As some of my fellow Texan AR members will know....some parts of Texas got substantial snowfall 3 weeks ago.

I was thankful for the opportunity to see our ranch in Huntsville with this level of snow (roughly 4-5")....and even more thankful that I was able to spend some time stalk hunting in the beautiful scenery. It only lasted for one morning, and was mostly melted by lunch.

I managed to sneak up on two unsuspecting porkers rooting in the fresh snow (which was absolutely surreal for this Texas boy). I only had a few seconds to shoot, and dropped this nice 80 lb. sow (perfect eating size)

Last week, my wife and I made some pulled pork from the sow that was outstanding!

Those are some gorgeous scenes. Thanks for sharing! Congrats on the porker, too -- and your food pictures have my taste buds in overdrive right now. It looks great!

From the looks of that particular pig and all the snow you could mistake that picture of being taken in Europe.

I’m just coming back from European Pigapalooza
It was a blast besides frozen feet, snow, rain, mud ... and hours of no end in cold seats... brrr
Gotta figure how to post pics since the photo bucket debacle

Gato and I were talking about hogs and snow last week. What a great opportunity you had. Shame it didn't last at least another 24 hours.

Similar bizarre snow-effect years ago in southeastern New Mexico. During quail season we got about a foot of snow dumped on us. Snow and blue quail are a perfect mix, they can't run. We were in the field before daylight and just lit the place up at first light. By noon the whole area was a muddy mess in bright sunlight, and by mid-afternoon we had limited-out and killed three rattlers that had come out of their dens to soak up some heat.
