The Pig Bomb. A show about our increasing wild pig population in the US. First few minutes look interesting.
Just thought I'd let ya know!

onefunzr2Interesting and informative, for the first 20 minutes. After that it was just redundant, even to using the same stock video clips over and over and over.
One good thing for pig hunters...they seemed to think that hunting alone won't reverse this pig population explosion.

BoarmanOnefunzr2,
I felt the same way. Kind of wondered what they would talk about for 60 minutes.
Their hook line for viewers was a strain of super hogs was evolving with catostrophic results.
I missed the end, did they explain the hog population explosion in the 1980's ?
I expected it would be blamed on global warming or the Bush family

Swede44magThe Fish & Game won't let us hunt pigs in Kansas instead they have them shot by guys in helicopters.
I say make them legal to hunt "Thumper" My 45-70 needs a work out.

They didn't really explain the reason for the explosion in population. The "hook" you describe was kind of silly, though. They described an "uber-pig" (their exact term) evolving that weighs 1500lbs, has tusks the size of an elephant's, and can run 70mph. Ya, whatev'.

StonecreekYeah, I accidentally caught it about 15 minutes in. Entertaining, in a "National Enquirer" sort of way -- just not quite as factual as the Enquirer.
Weren't them 'Bama boys a hoot?
The stock footage of the huge "Russian Wild Boar" was obviously a porker of significant domestic blood due to its short face and floppy ears.
Dispite being in bed half asleep, even my wife had to hoot and howl at some of the narrator's more outlandish intonations. Are 70 mph hogs eligible to run in the Kentucky Derby?

That's just wrong. Pig hunting is way better than just about any other kind of hunting. Do ya'll not have enough for the sportsmen and helicopter guys?

Only as 3-year-olds.

The thought is that if they let you hunt them, you will eventually like hunting them and transplanted upgraded Euro hogs will show up all over in places that wouldn't traditionally hold hogs.
If they keep you from liking it, and keep you from doing it, you are less likley to be interested in turning loose euro or feral hogs.
While it is a sound management idea if you don't want hogs in your state, it doesn't take into effect the human factor, or the pigs natural ability to breed very rapidly.
Lots of game and fish outfits are stupidly ran, just add Nebraska and Kansas to that list. I have said it before and I will say it again, we will have pigs from Maine to Washington in 2050.
I set the timer to watch it tonight at 1900.
