I have an idea. I wonder if anyone has tried something like this . My goal is to keep hogs around longer . I am doing the following : 1- get a 4’ long piece of 6” diameter PVC pipe. 2- put a permanent cap on one end. 3-put a removable cap with a swivel on the other end. 4-Drill numerous holes large enough for corn to fall through . Fill it 3/4’s full of corn. Attach to trees with 6’ chain or cable. I recon the hogs will have to spend some time to eat the corn. Hopefully they will hang around longer . Any thoughts ?

Used them on our S. Tx lease---ours had a threaded rod all the way from end to end, and anchored to a t-post. Hogs still managed to get it loose and I found it about 150 yds away in the brush/cactus. Our hogs were so accommodating we quit using them-not needed for us. Three of us in separate stands one evening and the 6 o'clock census was 64 pigs in sight. Yes, they love it. The problem is they eat it and are gone in short order . I want to find a way to slow them down.

Run the feeder longer or do what I like, supplement with bagged corn when you decide where you will sit. Spread it around (I like a big aluminum ice scoop) and they will stay longer unless spooked. Or use a road feeder to put the extra corn out. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

My concern is not so much when I am sitting in a stand. It is when we are trying to Slip up on feeders to shoot the feeding hogs.

We used old beer kegs as hog pipes. You can put a lot of corn in one, and with only a few holes it'll last a long time. The bonus is you can hear a hog rolling a beer keg full of corn a long ways off. Lets you know where they are and simplifies planning your stalk. _____________________ A successful man is one who earns more money than his wife can spend.

I thought the feral trappers here on the AR Forum have taught me to use an arrow of corn so the pigs know where to stand. That's like the arrow in front of the trap entrance. Then it is easier to shoot them. Be Well, Packy.
