Using a 24" .300 Savage barrel and a 125 grain Accubond, Andy nailed a nice meat hog just before midnight. The twins have taken deer and various varmints, but this is the first hog for either. Grady is now chomping at the bit and ready to even the score. Smiler

Anyway, the range was about 110 yards, and he executed a perfect shot under tough lighting conditions (hogs were in the fringe of a feeder light). The 125 grain Accubond leaves the 24" Van Horn barrel at 2740 fps and dropped the young sow on the spot, entering tight behind the shoulder and exiting a couple inches behind the shoulder on the opposite side.

Well done, Andy!

"Eating" shots are sometimes tough 'cause you've just got to break eggs to make an omelet. This example may have perforated ribs but it left everything else untouched! Short of giving them an extra ear hole, it doesn't get any better than this!

He was definitely thinking about the meat when pulling the trigger -- and both twins really enjoy chicken-fried pork tenders from smaller hogs.

What little hair I have left that still has any color is brown like Andy's. No curls for me, though; the boys get that from Bev.

Heck, I have so little hair left that I haven't felt the need to see a barber in years LOL Big Grin

Bobby the last pix I saw of you on
here you had a head full. Must of
been an old pix huh?
Yeah, I know. Big patch of hide on
the back of mine. Out of sight, so
it don't bother me. The back is long
and shaggy now. Iv'e been snipping the
sides off when I see feathers sticking
out. Can't see what I'm doing on the back.
Don't look like the barber is going to
reopen. Last I had a trim was mid Jan.
Usually go once a month.

No red color left in mine either. I joke
that everytime I change oil, it gets whiter.

At least it's not the way my youngest son and
dau's kid's hair is. Bald as a que ball in the
front half til the ears, then full crop in back.

No clue where that comes from. Dad's hair was
starting to thin some, still mostly dark and no
gray or white when he died at 92 & 8mo.

Must have been an old picture -- or , more likely, possibly something I uploaded and posted for someone else. I've done that for several people on the forum over the years.

I have very few pictures of myself. Here is an old one from 1983 or 84 -- and definitely no red hair ha ha.

Thanks, guys. I'll make sure he sees these posts.

George-While the boys never got to take a hog with the bullets you sent a few years ago, they no doubt got in some good practice. And they did "kill" countless water-filled jugs at extended ranges. Smiler

Anyway, I just thought about that and wanted to say thanks again. There were many hours of fun packed into that big box of bullets you sent them. Oh, and the solar light he shot this hog under was the one you gave us also. Smiler

Thanks Bobby. Good to hear.
IF those 38's are used up, say so,
there's still half a bucket full left
from that same batch.

Ok, if that's you in the hat, it
wasn't you in the picture I recall.

Hope you're feeling good these days.

George-

I'm the one on the right...not in the hat. They still have some 38s left but went through all the rifle bullets you sent for them. Smiler

Ahhh, LONG time ago huh?

That's the last of those rifle
bullets I had.
Inherited them from a shooting buddy
that didn't need 'em where he went last.
Nothing I could use. Took up shelf space
til I saw that's what you were shooting and
thought it would be a good place to find a
new owner. Glad all of you got some use
out of Mac's bullets. Kept hoping to see
some hogs killed with 'em. Practice for
the boys is good enough.

Picture I'm recalling: bare headed, kneeling
behind a dead hog with one of your rifles.
For sure a red headed guy. Always believed it
was you. That had to of been more than 5 years
ago.

WE need more kids shooting like this. Tell the son good shot. I always wish I could have those targets in my back yard. I would give them what for for sure. But I'm not willing to move to the great state of Texas. Be Well, Packy.
