I have a friend that is from Southern Ark.(Magnolia) and we are gonna go down there Boar hunting is there a best time of the year to go? He said Nov. around their deer season is the best because the meat won't spoil as quick. Also what am I looking at as far as size(poundage)? He Turkey and Deer hunts up here in Mo. with me and said his brother kills quite a few down there. Also what are the best choices of guns. .308, .25-06, or 7mag. I really don't want to lug the 7mag around all day. Any advice would be appriciated.

I'd say any of your 3 selections would work as long as you use the proper bullet selection. How much do tags run where you are going?

Hogs are a lot fewer and further between in Ark. than other places, certainly you will see less than the arkies claim you will.I'd plan on lots of packing and little shooting of your rifle. Any of the three you have will do fine.

My brother in Little Rock, has killed several piggies with his Rem. 700 .308 Win., using the Federal Premium 165 grs. Nosler Partition bullets. He's never had any trouble with that load and has put a fair number of "pork chops" in his freezer.
