A friend and I have a hunt planned for this friday but now there is a 40% chance of rain. How do hogs respond if it rains? We'll be hunting with a guide but another perspective would be nice. Thanks.

From my limited experience, rain does not effect them unless it is a downpour. On my hunt in June, the last day it rained 4 inches in a couple hours. We went out that afternoon and the hogs were already back to normal. Larry "Peace is that brief glorious moment in history, when everybody stands around reloading" -- Thomas Jefferson

Also in June, we had a torrential down [pour at the place we hunted, rained for about 4 hours hard. Set out all the people that we could get to stands and literally saw hundreds of hogs that evening. Founding member of the 7MM STW club Member of the Texas Cull Hunters Association

In my limited experience, rain = no problem for hog hunting. I shot a hog out of a group of 3 or 4 a couple of years ago with a 500 NE at about 50-yards... none of the other hogs even flinched at the shot! It was thundering, and I assume they thought the rifle shot was thunder.

Thanks guys, it sounds like rain may even be an advantage!

If it's cool and not raining really hard, they will be moving....... Good luck, SWD! "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"
