My tattletales (game cameras) showed almost no traffic at my two local spots and have been waiting for favorable winds for spot #3 with tht big boar. Winds are good tonight so watch for a report and pics--

Been fighting -- and losing to -- health issues lately. I've been staying inside much of the time, so if the hogs are out, I don't know about it. Hopefully soon, though...

Surrounded by cows up feeding, deer & coons at the feeder and couple of hogs across the fence next door but no hog traffic in my shooting lane — yet.

Bobby: sorry you can't get around any better.
Sure hope it lets up before long. til then
hang in there the best you can pard.

You'll get him -- of that I am sure!

I'm up -- unable to sleep. I actually feel more spry tonight and have looked out twice now. All I've seen so far are coons and deer. My Contender is out on the shooting rest at the edge of the yard, so I'll be going out at least one more time to check. If the coons are still under the feeder, I just may have to touch off a round. Smiler

George- The boys are interested in hunting but have very little free time -- that and the fact the hogs haven't been around much contribute as well. Schools may be shut down as far as congregating on campus, but the full load of school work continues on a daily basis. I hope all is well your way!

Well, there was nothing but deer out there -- that and a stark reminder that summer is about to be in full swing. Was a nice breeze earlier, but right now, it it still and horribly muggy. I am drenched with sweat just from the few steps to retrieve my rifle. George, you need to send some of that cool Colorado climate my way! Smiler

Will try and catch a little shut-eye now...

Have a great day!

Bobby:
Doing well up here. Hey, we seem to be
sending lots of rain clouds on over.
So far just two slightly damp sprinkles.
Some nasty looking black clouds though.

That's what we need to see, fresh faces
and different hogs from other places.

Welcome guys, let's see 'em and hear
about your adventures.

George

No pigs last night, sat in a woods for a couple of hours where we know a decent boar is running around. He didn't run around last night though!

Lots of roe deer and a very nice old old buck too. Something to look for when the season opens 1 May.

Tall trees / tall picture !

Ps. Mouse93 ... thats a good solid pig to take! Congratulations! Wink

No pigs last night. Sat from 7 pm to 2 am - roe deer and a big badger - he was around for an hour or more, dug a big hole and ate his share of corn!

Farmers have put in potatoes, peas, carrots and wheat so its now more about crop protection than chasing the big Keilers!

Hi Charlie:
Badgers huh? Don't try to pet one mate!

Way back in the mid 60's I was trapping bobcats
in a self made box trap. Caught 4, a skunk the bil's took care of when I was away and a coon that had pups the next day.

Rancher over the hill said he'd like for me to
catch a badger that had dug under his irrigation ditch and was afraid it would punch thru and lose his water. Ahh, just what I wanted for years has been a nice badger hide!

Set the trap at the entrance, staked it down good. Next morning I'd caught it. Tore holes in the sides and ripped out the bottom. Made of 1/2"x1" wire. Then went back in the hole.

Hmm, ok, fill that water tank truck and lets drown it out and I'll shoot it with my .22 pistol when it comes out. Simple enough, right?

Whole lotta water ran in, nothing happened. WTH? About the time I got distracted a bit a big water explosion blew out and something hit me hard and was gone. Not only soaked, my jeans and shirt were just about ripped to shreds. I never even got to see it. Joe and Shorty did and thought it was damned funny.

Next thing was running a 3" hose down the hole and plugging it up around the hose, then ran the exhaust over an hour. Never dug itself out after that.

Don't try to pet one Charlie! Ha ha!
Best wishes.

George

Baits hit good last night (when I was not there!), but I plan on going out tonight with my son.

See if they are hanging around!
