I checked the game cam earlier and they had been in the trap 10 consecutive nights so I set it. Next morning--nada! But this morning (after night #12) I had this batch--all boars for the buzzard buffet. And, 7 more tails for hog bounty turn-in. Much different coloration than the usual solid black too.

Good show!

Just keep pecking away at the population and making the buzzards fat.

A few thousand more like you and it will noticeably reduce the hog population.

Sure would be nice to get in on that
kinda killing. Wouldn't be feeding the
varmints and vultures with all of it.

Glad you're keeping the population thinned out in your area though. I fully understand
the problem they cause.

George--I bowhunt another spot about a mile east on another creek drainage. Been on that place for 9 years and this is the first year hogs have been a problem, but they are for sure. I've trapped 7 and still have 10-15 coming in every night from up the creek. I am going to put lights up at their favorite spot and give them a week to get accustomed, then head out with the 12-ga loaded with my favorite 3" mag #4 buck and see if I can discourage them.

Local paper had article this week about the bounty program. County has put some more $$ toward it and it will run to September or money runs out. So far, since August, 350 tails have been turned in. I suspect this is lower than they expected, but has picked up with deer season and more folks in the woods.

I got a call from one of my landowners who cuts it off during deer season. He said "You gotta get out here and get busy, they are killing us." So, after the holidays I'm taking my new pen trap and setting it up on his place and getting after them again. It is nice to know I can't work myself out of work of this sort.

Sounds good to me. At least it keeps you off the streets.
