I am posting to ascertain whether the interest is there to organise something along the lines of Gerry's proposal in the above thread, viz:

I'll accept that Challenge ..... and I know a handful of keen, expert Hunters who will agree.

Don't go "Off The Air" on this one Guys .....

First of all you've made the News in "The Fatherland". Texas now has the same issue we're confronted with - lots of Porkers butr somehow they manage to escape our wrath (bullets) .

It's been festering in my mind for some time now since I've been reading this ..... but

Someone in Texas get us an invite to wallop Piggies; we'll bring a "European Team" (sorta like Creadmoor in years past) although from the Get-Go it's gonna be tuf (tough) to beat THC (Tactical Hog Control's eforts) .... but

We'll do a turn around - Texas for Europe invite.

So we come to Tex-ass and smack some Porkers and then we'll invite the hosting Texas Team to Europe (The Fatherland) to do likewise.

Rules:

1. No Trophy Fees,
2. Keep it above board, sorta stay & eat cheap (airline tickets ain't cheap); we obviously can't bring alot of equipment w/us no like 4x4's and Porker Feeders.
3. We do the same for your Team on a returen "Match".

Find some poor Peanut Farmer who wants to have some Hogs shot and we'll show up (w/o Moderators=Silencers).

The Gaunlet has been Thrown ..... Takers?

We can thrash out the precise details as we go but in principle, what say ye gentlemen?

Question:
Yay or nay?

Choices:
Aye
Nay

Ghubert,

I believe Whitworth put it this way in another post.

"Texas? Why Texas? We'll do a real southern hunt in the summertime, when the temperatures are well over 100-degrees (that's Fahrenheit for my European friends Big Grin) and the humidity is at 95%, and the mosquitoes are flying formations looking for blood. We'll hunt them all day, sweat our backsides off, suffer heat stroke and exhaustion, and we won't see a single pig. Then, when we are too tired to get back on our feet, and night falls, the pigs will come out of their beds -- see? They are smart! "

Now add the following and you might figure thatsomewhere else, a driven hunt might work, where I hunt it would be suicide. You'd have guys having heart attacks, and strokes from the heat(see above). Broken ankles/legs, dislocated arms and shoulders, from tripping and falling on rocks anywhere from the size of a marble up to the size of a medicine ball. Then ya' got snake bites, spider bites, lacerations and eyeballs poked out from the cedar bushes, cactus and yucca thorns all over and in unmentionable places
I used to hunt in a place called Rocksprings Texas. Appeared to me that more rocks just sprang up out of the ground every time I went back.

I'll stick to corning the roads at nite, sniping from an elevated blind, trapping and snaring. Much easier on this old man's body.

Best

Thanks for clearing that Geedubya, I confess that I had not looked too deeply in to the whole Texas issue, I just said Texas because I have family there, like the place and know they have hogs.

Gerry and I are open to suggestions, ideas, criticism and outright abuse on all the details so please chime in.

Thinking about it a little more how about I tell you guys what we have over here and you guys tell me what would be best to do over there?

Gerry hints at some driven shooting in the fatherland, this is a traditional way of hunting on the continent and a great day out. The hunts are fair chase so one cannot be guaranteed a shot but when in the hot seat there is little that is as exciting as hearing the dogs bay and the beast charge through.

I'll post some more details and some photos after I've consulted with the jaegermeister...
