Need a referal or suggestion for a place to harvest a few piggies -- would prefer N. Texas as we would be driving from Colorado -- I am looking now to establish a relationship for next year. Can provide our own everything -- just need the place to go - mainly bow hunters but might have a rifle along just in case. Please PM me with any leads/ranchers/properties or ideas -- Thanks G OMG!-- my bow is "pull-push feed" - how dreadfully embarrasing!!!!!

Hey bud, that's what we're all lookin for!! Where you at up here in this great state?? Had one for awhile, looked like we were going to get together then he quite replying. Now I see he's even pulled all his posts off the forum too. Wish you luck at it. I'd recommend you contact the local Farm Bureau Ins. agent and see what he could suggest. Maybe some names of agents in the area you're looking at. Not as many pigs up north as there are in the southern half. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" My dad caught 6 hogs yesterday in Coleman County, (west central TX.) I can help you out if you are interested. The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends. I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

I haven't been to blacklocust ranch, their rates are very reasonable and I wish them the very best, but they are obviously a put and take hunting ranch. Anyone who knows sicem from sooey about hogs will immediately understand that you can't successfully hunt wild, unfenced hogs on 200 acres day after day. Hogs are too smart for that to be happen. Put and take, for hogs or anything else, is not my cup of whiskey, but to each his own. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. I can reccomend several professional hunting ranches with a large population of pigs. Hearts Bluff Ranch, the biologist name I believe is Jared. You can look at the operation on line at www.heartsbluffranch@bowie-cass.com It is located near Mt.Pleasant Texas. It has around 7 miles of river frontage on the Sulfur River, a great river bottom with loads of pigs. The other with really nice facilities and great hunting is Big Woods and can also be found online at www.bigwoods.net We hunt at both ranches several times a year and have great success with Bows, muzzle loaders, and rifles. Big Woods is along the Trinity river bottom. Our success rate at both is over 90 %. We have always had a 100% chance but sometimes people miss and some just are plain tough and get away. Big Woods is by far the nicer facilities but if you are interested in good hunting and personal attention, both do well. I choose by availability when I want to hunt, not by how fancy the lodge is, your pick. Big Woods owner is a cardiologist who easily weighs 280 and wears coveralls, has a beard, not sure what cardiologists are supposed to look like but I wouldn't pick his picture out. His picture is on the website and I was there when he scoped himself,, you can see the blood on his face. He is a "character" so if you go there, be prepared for him to dish out some BS, He can take it but he is "different"drwes you can make more money, you can not make more time

I failed to mention, these are not high fenced operations and are fair chase. These river bottoms are wild and Hearts Bluff has around 5000acres of huntable land and Big Woods is over 7000 acres. This is not a put and take operation,,it is a real hunting situation. Handgunn hunting is permitted as well. drwes you can make more money, you can not make more time

drwes: That link to "Heartsbluff ranch" doesn't work for me. The correct spelling of the original ranch name is Hart's Bluff. I own part of it on the Sulphur, which, ipso facto, must be fairly close to this one. I'd be interested in reading their site. I played with several variations of the link's spelling and couldn't get one to work. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. Try www.heartsbluff.com the other address I put on there was the biologist's e-mail address. I tried this address and it is correct. The biologist and ranch manager 's name is Zack Willeford. Sorry for the mix up but I talked to him on the phone this morning they are doing really well on the pigs this year. There is another place close that is called Hart's bluff, but it is a private ranch and not connected with this hunting operation. Hope this helps. drwes you can make more money, you can not make more time

drwes: Thanks, nice site and sounds like a good place to hunt at a reasonable price. They probably took the name of the big ranch which used to be in the area many years ago and changed it. Hart's Bluff ranch was at least 20,000 acres along the Sulfur River bottoms and it may or may not have included this Heart's Bluff Ranch. The tract (about 900 acres) I own down there must be pretty close. It is connected to the GIANT city of Talco on the NE corner and runs along the river for a mile or so. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. I think this hunter was looking for one of those mythical ranches that has a horrendous pig problem but up until the time someone offers to get rid of some hogs. Then it's a pay and shoot ranch. He hasn't posted back yet. Tom Purdom
