I'll add more details later, but earlier this evening, I took a large sow with a load I recently developed in the 6.5 Bullberry. From the 24" barrel, the current, tweaked version of this load with CFE223 is giving me 2840 fps and superb accuracy.

The shot was only about 135 yards. There was barely any twilight, and the 6.5 did not have a shooting light on it. I had a thermal-topped 25-06 out there as well, but I really wanted to use the 6.5 BB, so I waited until the hogs entered a patch of light-colored, frost-burned grass that helped with visibility.

It was still tough, but the Docter Unipoint 3-12x56 at 8x gave me just enough detail to pick out the largest of the bunch and send a bullet downrange. It seemed the sow was slightly quartering, so I put the red dot a bit behind the shoulder with hopes of putting it in alignment with the opposite shoulder. She dropped on the spot.

The shot landed where I hoped, damaging the edge of the liver, fully wrecking the lungs, exiting the ribcage and penetrating the opposite shoulder. The jacket was found in the fat between the shoulder and hide. The core -- still in the meat of the shoulder -- was about a half-to-three-fourths inch away from the jacket, but that separation does not bother me in the least. The wound channel was impressive, and the penetration was substantial for a 100 grain projectile with this hard of an impact.

The proportion of fat on this sow was likely the highest I've seen on any wild hog. She was eating well for sure. And as chilly as it was this evening, it was obvious she had been rolling in the creek bottom as she was muddy and still somewhat damp.

I'll weigh the bullet later on and post the expanded diameter as well.

OK, the jacket and core weigh in at 60.6 grains. The widest portion of the jacket measures 0.521".

I think I'll load up a few more...

Thanks. It's a terrific bullet for the 6.5 Grendel. I've overlooked it for years, used it only minimally on game and have normally run 120s in my Contender rifle barrels. But when these went on sale for $18.24 a box, I had to have some ha ha. I ran quite a few into test medium at upper and lower-end impact speeds, and the consistency has been impressive.

Good to see you are still around Bobby:

Miss the contact lately.

That about as Black a rifle as I've ever seen.
Fine looking piece.

George-

Would have sent a photo like I usually do, but I am about ready to throw my phone in the creek. I keep getting "failed to send" notices on about 3/4ths of the texts I try. Later today I am going to delete and then re-install some things and see if that helps.
