I would think the outfitter with the best reputation in that area is Dye Creek.

Hope that helps,
Kyler

Thanks for the help. Dye creek won't take one guy, but North Powder will, so I'm off to stalk a pig in a couple weeks. Will report upon my return.

Hi Eny,
Sorry I steered you the wrong way, I didn't even think of you hunting alone. But I can't blame Dye Creek, I can hardly pay for the fuel, much less leases, insurance, etc. with a single hunter fee.

Best of luck on your hunt.

Kyler

No worries Kyler, I completley understand the situation. I e-mailed them (Dye creek) that I would be happy to go along with some othe single hunter if the opprutunity ever came up. Somthing to think about for you hog outfitters. I miss about one hunt a year due to the difficulty to book a hunt for one hunter.

That single hunter situation is always a a tough one. A huge number of inquires I get are single hunters wanting to be teamed up with other people.

I'm starting my 23rd year as an outfitter. In the beginning to be a nice guy I used to team people up and I've worked for other outfitters who do it.

Most of the time everything works out fine. But I've found out the hard way that when it goes bad it goes really bad.

Nothing against you, because sometimes I hunt by myself too. But I've found that SOME, not all but some, of the people who want to book alone are doing so because NO ONE WHO KNOWS THEM WILL HUNT WITH THEM ANYMORE. Either because they are game hogs (pun intended), are unsafe, can't leave the bottle alone while hunting, are cronically late for hunt times, etc. And as you know any one of these can ruin a hunt and possibly cost a hunter his life.

If the guy who wakes up and gets dressed 30 minutes after we should have been in the field is the brother-in-law of the guy who booked the hunt... its not my fault.

If I teamed this sleeping beauty with another single hunter who was on time... guess who gets yelled at, bad mouthed on the web, etc.

Another guy who hunted with me many times made it a habit of shooting two pigs for himself before anyone else in the group even got a shot. He wasn't polite about it either. He went through all of his friends and calls at least twice a year now to see if I'll team him up with anyone (of course I won't).

Another extremely pleasant gentleman (I'm not being sarcastic) used to come with a regular group. He was fun to be around but he was as "safety challenged" as anyone I've ever seen. After SEVERAL shooting accidents he became a single perpetually looking for a hunting partner.

The bad scenerios are endless of teaming people together and I'm done appologizing for other people. I wish there was an easier solution but I haven't figured it out.

Have a great hunt,
Kyler

Why do you think I have to work so hard...my pig hunts cost me double cause nobody will hunt with me...

Other than me being perpetually late, 1/2 in the bag, and a game hog...I am a good guy

Legistine actu quod scripsi?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Hey Dettorre,
You not only have friends who want to hunt with you all over the world, but you do the admirable thing of bringing a lot of new hunters to our sport.

But don't try to hold me to either of those compliments in person though, I'll deny them both and accuse YOU of hacking into my AR account to make this post.
