here's the results of my short trip up to the family hunting place. i put out some real rank corn hoping to get into a herd of pigs like i did last time i was there. no deal this time. but this little boar happened to wander by and the 9.3 took care of him. the next morning, another bucket of corn and zero pigs. i was ready to leave but i had my call set up so decided to use it and see what would happen. the rabbit screamed for about 5 or 6 minutes and i turned it off and waited. about 5 minutes later the yote showed up. the 9.3 did it's thing again and i had him.

a word about the 270 grn speer bullet. it has a reputation for being too soft. in my experience this is absolutely true. i would never use it on elk or bigger and for sure never on dangerous game. but my gosh, it sure puts the smack-down on the small stuff. i've killed one doe, one bobcat, at least three coyotes and i don't know how many pigs and it's performed great on everything. the biggest pig was about 250-275 and it did fine but it looked like only a sliver of the bullet exited. for bigger pigs headshots may be a good idea. anyway, i had a good time.

I like the looks of that stock. It looks like a re-shaped CZ 550 stock. How does it handle with no checkering? I'm thinking of refinishing the stock on the used 308 CZ 550 that I just bought, and in the process the checkering may have to go.

Thanks for the tip on the 270gr Speers. I've got a load developed with them for my 9.3x57, and plan on some day using it for hogs and deer. I've got several boxes of those bullets and they are very accurate in my 9.3x57. Might as well use um.

BTW, Grafs was running a sale on the Prvi 9.3mm 285gr bullets last time I looked yesterday.

you are correct. it started as a cz factory stock with that weird angular cheekpiece. i reshaped the cheekpiece. opened the grip, shortened the LOP a little, and slimmed the whole thing down a bit. i have no problem with the lack of checkering, but i would like to have some addded when funds permit. it's a nice handling light rifle with pretty good punch. hitting one of our 100# deer in the chest with the 270 grn speer is about like smacking a mouse with a golf driver.

i think the 270 grn speers would work great for you at X57 speeds. i load the x62 to about 2450 and they expand real quick...maybe at 2100-2200 they would be a little more well behaved. thanks for the headsup on the prvi bullets
