Last night the lead story on "Nightline" was about feral hogs in Texas. They featured a locally famous guy called "Barefoot Bob". Bob both traps hogs and runs them with dogs for clients to dispatch through the means of their choice. The Nightline feature didn't show any knifing or shooting of hogs, but they did a pretty good job of outlining the hog problem and its history. They showed a lot of feral hogs in pen traps, and the ugly appearance and belligerant temperament of the hogs didn't do anything to endear feral hogs to the "Bambi huggers". Overall, it was a surprisingly accurate and straight-forward presentation for a network news show.

I know Barefoot Bob. He literally hunts barefooted. He's a fireman by profession and lives in the Abilene area. He catches quite a few hogs for clients and for himself. very tough individual. The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends. I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

I talked to a friend of mine who has a store that Bob often frequents. Ironically, he said Bob was in the store the morning after the Nightline feature aired and Bob mentioned that it had been filmed but didn't know when it would air. So Bob himself missed it. I'm not sure, it may be available on the ABC website? If it is, it is worth downloading.
