Well I am a little late with the this, but better late than never.

Well the thursday the 15th , Myself my brothr-in-law and my shooting partner, All headed down to North Carolina for our first pig hunt as well as our first night hunt.
The drive was very easy since Hog Heaven is located right off of 95, Getting down there late morning, we settled in, made sure we were sighted in. Due to the warm weather we were planning on getting into stand around 6 and sit all night. Well walking into stand slowly moving I see my first pigs of the trip a group of piglets 10 or more, though never saw the sow, I proceded to my stand , the piglets spooked and ran towards the direction of my shooting partner.
Well around 7:30 three shots rang out, and three pigs hit the dirt, a 90 pouund sow and 2 piglets, 50 beowuld did the job, all shots were pass throughs, really not suprising, but later wheen skinning the piglets we found a perfectly mushroomed 350 grain bullet, a piglet and the bullet didn't exit.

No other pigs were seen or shot the first or second night, tough conditions and we had a strong weather system moving in.

The third and final day, d-day, spent most of the morning shooting and hanging out and early afternoon after one of the guides went for a drive spotted pigs in an open field,

Well the stalk began 600 yards, open field, 3 guys, my brother-in-law being 6'5 and this was his first hunt. We got within roughy 150 yards, it was a gorup of 5 pigs, the largest being a red colored sow,
Well we settled in picked our targets and squeezed off our rounds, To keep it short I squeezed off my round a little too soon but my brother-in- law dropped the big sow on the run with a 44 mag lever gun, a borrowed gun as well. My pig I guess I pulled the shot and there was no oppurtunity for a follow up.

After collecting the sow which weighed 150 pounds the work began before the evening hunt

We hunted that evening, and nothing was seen.

Though all in all it was an amazing trip, great friends and a wonderful staff who worked extremly hard to make our stay as good as it was.
I will be back to Hog Heaven, great location and there are alot of pigs. I will redeem myself next year
Would recommend them to anybody looking for a great time and great hunting.

Whitworth, Thank you for the recommendation

Matt

Excellent!! I am pleased to hear that you had a great time! After all, that is the most important aspect of the hunt as far as I am concerned. I was the only one in the group last month who was unsuccessful, but I was fine with it!

Glad you found the place to your liking!

Johnston County, North Carolina. If heading southbound on I95, it is roughly 100 miles over the Virginia border.
