Wow. That was unexpected -- and horrible luck. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Can someone import the text of that article to AR? I for some reason seem unable to read it. Be well, Packy.

It doesn’t surprise me. I have shot hogs off of people in the past. Every single time , the hog is between their legs slashing that head from side to side . Getting those arteries is always a risk.

Yep. Horrible luck, is right. This makes a guy think twice when doing the "walk-up" on "dead" animals too. Zeke

"bit him in the leg and severed his femoral artery", according to reports. Got to be the most unlucky guy in the world for that to happen.

That's to bad. I met a fellow in Arkansas that had nearly the same experience only he lifted his leg and the Boar nearly severed his calf muscle in half. It was a nasty looking scar and he walked with a bit of a limp. He said he used an SKS with FMJ ammo and wouldn't be doing that again.

Hard to believe he got Bit. More like hooked. The biggest of the two hogs I shot in Fla that time had been hooked inside a thigh just below the balls and infected the meat bad enough we threw that hind quarter away. Both boars had torn up ears, one lost most of one. Fighters for sure. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L. Dwight

When we catch hogs, they definitely try and bite. It isn’t impossible. I think slashing with the cutters is by far more likely to have caused a serious injury. Cutting an artery is a serious risk. I don’t want to get bitten by one. However, it is not likely to be fatal.

Here ya go Packy- An Italian hunter died last week after he was attacked by a wild boar he had just shot that bit him in the leg and severed his femoral artery, according to reports. Giulio Burattini, 36, was hunting with his father in the Tuscan woods on Jan. 19, the Daily Star reported, citing Italian media. Burattini shot the animal and it fell. He approached the injured boar and it quickly got up and charged at him, the report said. The father, who was treated for shock at the scene, reportedly let out a "desperate cry for help." Italy’s main agriculture lobby, Coldiretti, estimates there are over 2 million wild boars in Italy. An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

Thanks and it is like I thought. NOT a BITE. The tushes did the job to penetrate that well. Those boars go at it like a sewing machine to wreck anything with those big ivories. The guy probably had almost no chance of living with large leaks like that. I don't trust even a whitetail deer, much less a boar. Be Well, and thanks again for helping a dinosaur. Packy.

They grow knives on their faces and they are not nice people under normal circumstances. I treat a big wounded boar as I would a wounded cat. I have a double shotgun I keep at the ranch for following up big wounded boars in the thick brush. It's rarely used, but when I do have to use it, I'm glad I have it.

I got hooked in the left calf years ago while running dogs by a 100 lb boar with 1" tusks. 2.5 inches long and 1.5 inches deep. Didn't get any arteries or veins but took 4 inner stitches and six outer stitches with a drain tube. Hurt like hell 2 hours later.
