After the light did not come on the other night I swapped that battery with my welder battery until I could get it charged. Never got around to changing it out but went hunting there night before last. At 9:00 Pm the lights went into strobe mode! The load cell on the regulator was turning them off, the battery would build back up and the regulator would turn em back on! I don't know if it bothered the pigs but it did me! Yesterday I went and swapped batteries again and checked game cam. To my surprise a couple of sows and pigs were feeding at 16:45 for the last couple of days. I figured to get out of there before I stunk the place up ( and that came back to haunt me!). Got out there early, 4:45 came and went. Then 5 o'clock, sun was going down and I was getting cold. Some time after 5 a dark form was moving in the brush behind the feeder! What steps into the feeder pen, a collared peccary! I have not seen one of them around here in 20 years! 416 Ruger dropped it like a rock. When I went down there, I thought the mud under the feeder with all the corn fermenting was really stinking. Oh no, it was the javelina! This thing smelled really sickening! It did not appear to be sick so I don't know if they have a rut like deer. If you fake a grin it will suppress the gag reflex. I was grinning the whole time I drug it off! I did not want to puke! I only touched a leg and had to wash my clothes because they smelled that bad! I have only kill one other around here in 20 years, do they all stink that bad?

I've heard they have a gland on their back that produces that wonderful aroma. I was advised to never put one in the back of the suburban.

Yes! Down on the Pecos years ago, I shot one in a dry canyon and carried it out on my back. PUUU ! There was more to the story, but it went downhill from here. NRA Life Benefactor Member, DRSS, DWWC, Whittington Center,Android Reloading Ballistics App at http://www.xplat.net/

Have heard that like feral hogs, some javelinas are much worse than others. Wish Randall/Crazy Horse were still with us to comment on this. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author
