Next year for my anniversary my wife said I could go on a trophy hog hunt. So I'm looking for a place in Central FL, I'm N of Tampa. I have hunted hog on public land and I finally want to nail a whopper. My brother and a couple friends are going to go too, I want to try and get them into hunting and I figure a guided hog hunt is the perfect ticket. I want to do spot and stalk only- with a guide, no dogs and no vehicle shooting. So, anybody got any suggestions?

This is the only place I've really looked at:

When i lived in ST Pete, I went on a hog hunt with an outfitter that advertised on Craigslist. $200 for a normal hunt, then there was trophy fees if you got a hum dinger of a piggie.

I hunted with them and took my 308 and my bow. Within 6 hours of being on the ranch I filled both my tags with ease. No trophies but I had the chance, I just didnt wan tth etrophy nor the fees to go with him. So I shot Sow's and kept them smaller in size cause they was for the table.

I used Osceola Outfitters and they did a great job for me. Hoppy will work very hard to get you what you want.

You might want to try Brady's Ranch or JR Outfitters both around Okeechobee.

Believe it or not, Norton, Florida outfitters get the big bucks for Osceola turkey. Would I pay it? No way, no how!

Norton, I agree with Marko. I wouldn't pay it, but it is not an Eastern or Rio either. I went hog hunting there with a group of friends in the off season and we got 3 days for $200 each including lodging and meals. We could hunt any way we wanted meaning dogs, stalk, stand. This included one hog of any size. Extras were $100 each, if we chose to take them.

If Hoppy has openings in the off season and you have a group, he will come down on the hunt prices like this.

I've heard good things about his operation.

The hog hunts are reasonable........but as you 2 said, no chance I'm coughing up 2k for a turkey.....unless it's an Oscellated in Yucatan.

Believe me, hunting turkeys here is a far cry from hunting the other US species. Access to a place to hunt is far more expensive.

Funny you say that Larry.....my father lives in Orlando and I looked at coming down to hunt Osceolas......not only are the licenses ridiculous but the unit selection/access was confusing at best, more like prohibitive for a NR DIY hunt. I think I need to make some hunting buds down there.......

I know, Larry. I used to live in Central Florida but I just can't wrap my head around the cost.

I hear you. Leases are expensive. It is not uncommon for a single membership to be in excess of $10,000 a year for quality locations . Having a friend locally is the best bet.
