Can't wait until Saturday to blood an arrow, so I went to my local pig place behind the rifle range for a sit. Near calm winds--from 2 o'clock -- 'bout perfect, but still a bit warm for a while. Stand isn't the most comfortable--I don't like those molded plastic seats--no back support--and this tripod is located where there are no convenient limbs to hang your bow on.

About 8:15 I hear a growly-grunt from about 40 yds away so I turn on the sight light and get ready--no show. Then abut 20 minutes later I hear a couple of squeals from out maybe 100 yds away behind the feeder--no show. Twice more I heard piggy noises, but nothing came to the feeder, so my back called it quits and I came on home. The beauty of this spot is that it is only 10 minutes from driveway to pasture gate--

Maybe they stood me up because I trapped 3 of their family at this feeder Wednesday night--

3 days and a wakeup--Saturday here I come.

I have a hunter coming in, in a couple of weeks so have been going out and setting in various stands to see if my light arrangement is working and if pigs are coming in. The one I checked out last night was a no go.

The one I checked the previous night had a 100-125 pound boar come in and about 45 minutes after he left a 200+ pounder came in and fed for over 20 minutes.

Even the rocks don't last forever.

My last 6 dog hunts failed to get so much as a piglet! Took a stand this morning to get some pork and had 12 deer graze around me all morning, no hog. thumbdown

Good news I get to try again this afternoon. tu2 Also suppose to try a dog hunt in the morning, may have to find a picture of a hog to show the dogs what I'm looking for.

Dustoffer:
Yrs ago when I was doing a LOT of coyote calling and p'dog shooting for hours. And having had back surgery, problems for yrs. I can't sit w/o back support. I ran across one of those light weight plastic chairs the back and seat is all one piece. Took the legs off and just use the seat. Those days I didn't have much problem getting up n down from the ground so I just set the seat itself on the ground. It was much like having a recliner. Could tilt back and rock around, even twist somewhat depending on the ground and how hard it was. I even riveted some straps on it so I could carry it on my back. Even have a canteen cover on there with flea spray, bungee cords, rope, trash bags. I've carried two dogs out bagged up when I've had help standing up with the load.

Anyway, what I'm getting at. Find one of those chairs and rob the seat off it. I'll bet you'll be able to sit much longer and be less back pains.

Wish you well, and good luck with the pigs.

Is this the type of plastic chair that you see everywhere? Using it on a tripod, I'd have to have some way to attach it to the swivel/base. But, thanks for the tip--I'll look into it.
