I'm a Texan, and I've occasionally be referred to as crazy, but to make such gross generalization as that...

Just kidding. Those are crazy Texans, but only because they went to all the trouble of putting all those stinking, rotting hog corpses into one big pile. Doing it with dove, duck, or quail is one thing, but rigger will set in before too long. Talk about a logistical nightmare.

If memory serves, those 2 photos are not related, and the hogs were taken during an aerial outing.

Bobby is correct. At the time, Texas was issuing about 35 aerial gun permits per year for hogs. Recently the law has changed and it is much easier to "get up in the air" after hogs. This technique is used a lot for controlling coyotes as well.

Someone with too much summer "non-hunting" time on their hands started that bogus e-mail. We see these fake e-mails all the time, but more seem to start in the summer.......

I think JJH's mountain lion has been killed in all 50 states now, most counties, and 4 Canadian Provences.

'"Had" a hog problem? Not hardly. Unless the land is like a flat, plowed and disked field, unplanted, and high-fenced with a double strand on the bottom with about 100k volts in it, there are still hogs on the place, regardless of how many you have shot, and where there are two . . .

I look at these pictures, and hundreds of more telling, adventurous, and personal ones posted here, and feel the same way you do. Unfortunately, my wife does not agree with me!

I can see why someone may want to relocate from CA, but from WYOMING?!?!?! Nah...that is heaven on Earth!

I love my native Texas dearly, but Wyoming will always hold a special place in my heart.

You know Bobby I came here to visit and work a seasonal job for ONE summer 25 years ago and never left. The mountains, rivers, and high desert, and abundant wildlife just grabbed me by the gut and never let go! The winters here haven't changed much...they're loooong, but my attitude about them is starting to evolve a bit.

I grew up hunting pigs and I miss it. The idea of living somewhere warmer with lots of pigs and turkeys close at hand is never far from my mind. Your frequent accounts of your moonlit walks are not helping much...but keep em coming!

Take care.

Matt-

I can definitely understand how you went to Wyoming for one summer and wound up staying. It is truly a remarkable place.

My first time in Wyoming was for a week, and when it came time to leave, going back home wasn't easy.

Don't get me wrong: I LOVE it here in Texas. But the summers are sweltering and the fireants a constant nuisance.

And I know that the winters in Wyoming can be long and difficult.

But for me, Wyoming remains the closest thing to heaven on earth.

Forgot about the fire ants, makes yard work a real pain. There a lot of beautiful areas around the country, but only one has that TX mentality. Big trucks, big guns, big deer, and good women, gotta love it. I am afraid though my wife might be too redneck for TX, hehehe.

Aloha Bruddah Matt...

I'll be heading to your beautiful island home of the Big Island... I'll be hunting South Point in three weeks with my son and my younger brother.

Hoping to jump and whack some really large boars down there over a couple days...Going strictly for HUGE TUSKERS...

These old boars are really smart as you know so I hope luck is on our side hunting really, really early mornings and late, late evenings!

No dogs...spot'n stalk only as we wanted to get in some shooting time... Big Grin

The pigs are all over the place but the BIG BOYZ are in the thick stuff like usual...

I'll send some pics your way when we're done!

South Point here we come...

Also plenty goats so maybe we can have some success on a bunch of gut-piles, too.... beer

Aloha bruddah!

I can't believe I'm about to encourage a californian and a jackson holian (sic) to move here but.... Wink aside from the quality of life it's amazing how much further your dollar will go here, too. I never lived in jackson, but was just up the road for 5+ years and did the california thing for a few years also and believe me you'll get rich just moving here!!

Still can't believe I just said that Roll Eyes

Don't worry about me, I am not what most folks worry about Californians being. It is always funny to see the looks on folks face when they come into the house and see a pig mount on the living room wall. No prius in the driveway, just two ford trucks, a jeep, and a work truck. Served in the US Army and still proud of those who have served before me and those that have served since. I still address people I meet as Sir and don't really feel the need to tell others how they should live, unless they ask. But it seems I am a relic of the Past around here.

Have to agree with you about that observation, but only native southern Californians. The South of Cali attracts freaks from all over......very sad, as it would be a great place if all of the libs fell into the Pacific.......wishful thinking.
