This is the Eastern Washington Semi-Arid (I almost typed semi-Arab, sorry.) Desert. A River runs through it and people tended to build cities along that river. While they get little rain in the summer, they do get snow in the winter, hence "semi-arid." Here below a picture taken at the 300 yard line at the range. To shoot at 700, they close this range and move back, shooting over it to the "butts" shown above. The local terrain means that "long range" shooting here is some thing learned from a young age as this teen age son of one of the leading shooters was demonstrating. (Some might recognize the action on this sporterized battle rifle.) Its no accident that the United States is known as a nation of riflemen, once you get out of the big cities. -------------------- EGO sum bastard ut does frendo | ||
