I tried to buy a Nikon 3x9 Monarch scope at a store on sale reciently.I went down the street to see what else I could get myself into so I put a Remington Light Weight 20 Ga on Layaway for My Girlfriend For Her Birthday who does not hunt yet but she shot my 22.The good thing is if she does not shoot then I have a good shotgun.Anyway I returned to the other store and the gal working there had bought her husband the 3x9 Nikon Monarch. They were $191 which is a good price.I then saw they had Sightron 3x9 scopes on sale for $155.My girlfriend will also need this for the 25-35 winchester I am buying for her valentines gift..I was wondering if any one here had used a Sightron scope hopefully a 3x9.I have never heard of them.I am usually scope poor after I buy more rifles that are too cheap to pass up.I could still kick my butt for passing on the $191 nikon.I will get her a Nikon for next christmas but I need to buy her a bigger gun to put it on.I shot my 416 rem mag 1600 times with a 3x9 nikon monarch on it.I did have a 3x9 buckmaster come apart on one of my 338s after one day of shooting 200 rounds. The other scope on my winchester fell of that day also.Anyway are sightron scopes good enough to be even close to nikons. They lady at they store bought her husband a nikon wish my girlfriend would do the same for a scope poor feller.Any way are sightrons scope any good.
I am a big Nikon Monarch fan. With that said, I am now putting Sightron SII's on my new rifles. I have 3 of them currently on a 22-250, 7mm-08, and a 7mmSTW. They are excellent glass, very repeatable, great in low light, and have a lifetime over-the-counter warranty. They are the "sleeper" out there right now, IMHO. Just make sure you get the SII's.......
I just picked up a Sightron SII in 4.5x14 for $269. It was marked down $100. I asked the guy why, and he said they weren't carrying them anymore. I could not pass it up at that price. i got it home and cannot believe how clear and bright this scope is. I am waiting for the other models to go on sale too.
I wonder if Sightron is going under or something???? Hope not, but their website is still showing products from 2004.
IMO, Sightron is about the best kept secret in optics. I've used 2.5-8s, 3-9s, 3-12, and 2.5-7x, and 1.5-6x and have nothing bit prasie for them. They are precise in their adjsutments, good clarity and brightness. I, too, am a big Nikon monarch (and pre monarch) fan, but Sightron (the SII and SIII) are very good deals at those prices.
Oh, and you should consider buying your girlfriend a nice pair of hunting boots, so she can kick your ass for not snapping up a 3-9x Monarch at $191! You gotta pull the trigger when you get a standing broad side shot...
I bought a Remington 1100 20 Ga light weight for her that day instead of the scope.I got a good deal on it and it has beautiful wood.I use to buy Nikon Monarchs for $229 now they are $300 everywhere.I did get a 5.5x15.5 Nikon for $250 last year.I could kick my butt for noy buying the farm land here where I live for $100 an acre.I passed up a 160 acre farm for $14,500.I could use those Nikon scopes there.I also missed a 750 acre farm for $24,500 it was a friends who had to sell it get get on Social Security. If your a forginer here you get scoial security without selling the farm. How long has sightron scope been around. Will the handle 338 win mag and up recoil?
My Sightron II is on a .308, it's a great scope, Nikon is great too, have one on a .270. I bought my wife a Rem 1100 20 guage, for her birthday, she loves it. She told her dentist about it, he bought his wife a shotgun for her birthday, she divorced him
Where do you live, that land is so cheap? Land here is $40,000 an acre!
