Should I get Nikon's new monarch scope??

Question:
I am about to get a scope for my 30-06, and I would like a scope that you could use for anywhere from 50yrd to 450yrd shots. I saw that nikon made a new monarch scope, and I have used the original monarch for some time now, but should I get the new one??

Choices:
Yeah, it is a great scope
no, it isn't very good at all.

I'll let you know next week I just ordered a new one yesterday and I was asking the same questions you are. Nikon does have some of the best glass in the industry. I'm going to install it on a big bore rifle so I'll find out how tough they really are. I think you would be fine installing it on a 30-06, my friend has the older Monarch on a 7mm Rem Mag and has had no proplems. And he said he's had the scope ten or twelve years so far.

Welcome to AR

For $350 you can buy a Zeiss 2.5x8 Conquest from Doug at Camera Land. I really think the Zeiss scopes are bargains!

The old Monarchs are very nice. I certainly like mine, but for the relatively few extra dollars, get the Conquest. Mine is much better.
