I have an All Weather Ruger MKII That I want to mount a Leapold 2.5x8 VXIII on. The rifle has the factory supplied medium rings. I would like to mount the scope lower on the bore. I checked the Ruger Scope chart and it says the low ring is good for 32mm. the 2.5x8 is a 36mm. It looks like there is plenty of space between the barrel and the objective lens for the low ring to work.
Has anyone used the low ring in this application?

I have a MKII .338 with a Leupold 2.5x8 and changed rings to low. It works just fine on my rifle.

It will work with low rings..All my rings are low on every bit game rifle I own..One of the reasons I like the older 2x7x28 Leupold and the 2.5X, 3X and 4X fixed scopes. The Leupold 1.5x5 and the 1x4s are nice scopes. and I like my scopes right down on the receiver.
