Just got a older S&B scope and had a few questions. It was made in 1997.Seems at dusk that I am picking up alot of light flare? at 8 to 10 power. Is this normally and no I'm not pointing it at the sun it just seems to glare the sides of the glass at last light. Also is the this scope as good as the higher end scopes now a days or where does it stand.Would a scope shade cover help? Thanks for any help.

How much did you pay for the scope? Maybe its worth getting it serviced by S&B Regards, Bob.

I have several S&B scopes dating back to the 1990's and they are still flawless. I don't think the glass S&B uses today differs a lot from what they used some 10 years ago. You need not worry. S&B scopes come with a 30 year full warranty, regardless if you are the 1st or 2nd owner. Moreover, of all the high end Euro scopes S&B service is by far the best. So just send it off to them. They will have a look at it and let you know what is wrong with it

Hawkeye, I have a brand new 2.5x10-56 S&B flashdot and I get the exact same flares right at dusk. Seems there is a point where I have to ease the power down for a while and then as it gets dark I can go back up. I don't think there is anything wrong with your scope. Josh
