Which of the two Leupold range finders would you prefer, the RX-II or the RX-III. I relize
the II is 6x and the the III is 8x and there is a $100 difference in price.

Which of the two is more user friendly, or is there a range finder you rather have than the Leupold in the same price range.

I ttied out a Leupold rangefinder early last year that a friend bought for elk hunting and it wouldn't even range some cattle on pasture. They were standing out in broad daylight about an estimated 650 to 700 yds and the rangefinder wouldn't even give a reading. He sent it back to Cabela's for a refund and bought a discontiued Leica and loves it.

I have an RX II and had the same results. I have kept the unit because it is an excellent Range Finder for Bow Hunting with all the bells and wistles.

When I hit the field with my rifle, I use the new Leica, ranges to 1000 yds without a problem. The Swaro will range further, but I found it to be slower.

We tried a Leupold at Gander Mountain and 4 of us could not get it to range a car in the parking lot out a open door, we got it to tell us the temp. but not the range. Went with Nikon easy and work great. Simple as they come.
