Pertaining to spotting scopes has anyone used a Kowa 821 or 822? How about a Meopta Ha 75 or HS 75? What do you think of their quality?

All I can tell you is that I have a Kowa spotting scope that I have used for spotting at silhouette matches for more than 10 years now and I would not trade it for anything else I have seen in that time.

The field of view is great, the depth of field is great, the contrast is great, should I go on?

Kowa’s are probably the best spotting scope on the market.

Thanks for the input. I read many good things about the Meopta, but the Kowa has more followers it seems. I guess for one thing, the availability in the U.S. market for many years where Meopta is fairly new. For sure bigger is better so I will go for the Kowa 821. Eagle Optics has it for $498 on ebay.

I was cruising looking for reviews and comparisons. Birders consider a $1200 scope mid range. This birding magazine was evaluating the high end scopes and flat out said the new Kowa T880 (88mm) set the new standard and was superior to Leica and Swarovski plus a few others.

I just need to see bullet holes not the color of a bird's eye.

Buy from Jim Owens at Jarheadtop.com if he is close in price.

I lived happily for 20 years with a Tasco (built by Kowa)spotting scope, that is, until I peeked through a Swarovski !?! Life hasn't been the same until I could save enough to buy the Swaro HD...

How do they pronounce KOWA? If you judge quality by price, they should be tops.
