Swift Third Cap?

I just got a Swift mod 674M 3-9x40 used on a rifle and have never owned one before. What is the small screw under the small third cap for?
I would think adjustment lock,if so CW to lock CCW to unlock? Thanks for any info.

SUPPOSEDLY IT IS TO ADJUST RETICLE LIGHT INTENSITY. I RAN OUT OF SOURCE INFORMATION.

i tossed and turned on this subject and if i were you i would call swift optics and ask them.
